Privacy Policy
WarmCam is a macOS virtual camera application developed by Peter Dongo (“we,” “us”). This privacy policy explains what data the app handles and how. The short version: nothing leaves your Mac.
What data we collect
None. WarmCam does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no user accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDKs. The app does not assign you an identifier or track usage in any way.
What WarmCam does with your webcam feed
Your webcam frames are read from the camera, enhanced locally on your Mac’s GPU (skin smoothing, color and lighting adjustments, anti-glare, and background blur), and forwarded to a system Camera Extension that exposes them as a virtual camera. Frames are held in memory only as long as needed to render the next frame. Frames are never written to disk and never transmitted over a network.
Background blur
The optional background-blur effect separates you from your background using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. This analysis runs entirely on your Mac. No image data is sent to Apple or anyone else, and nothing is stored.
Custom LUTs and per-app presets
If you use the Pro+ features, any custom .cube color file you import is copied into the app’s local storage on your Mac and never uploaded. Per-app presets store only the name (bundle identifier) of the app you choose, locally on your device, so WarmCam can apply the right look automatically. This information never leaves your Mac.
Network access
WarmCam connects to the network only for one purpose: to process in-app purchases through Apple’s StoreKit framework. These connections are made by the operating system to Apple’s servers, not by us, and are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not see your Apple ID, your payment information, or your purchase history.
Third-party services
WarmCam uses no third-party services, no analytics tools, no SDKs beyond Apple’s system frameworks (AVFoundation, CoreMediaIO, Vision, Metal, StoreKit, SwiftUI). The app contains no advertising and no tracking technology.
Permissions
WarmCam requests access to your camera. This is required to capture webcam frames for enhancement. The permission is granted by you through the macOS standard prompt and can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
WarmCam also installs a System Extension (“WarmCam Camera”) so it can present a virtual camera to other apps. The extension can be removed at any time in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions.
Children’s privacy
WarmCam is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no information from anyone, we collect no information from children either.
International users
WarmCam works the same way for everyone, everywhere. Because no data is collected or transmitted by the app, there is no cross-border data transfer to disclose.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in the release notes of the next app update.
